The Whipple Bird Club gathered at Indigo Hill on Sunday, October 30, 2005. We climbed the ladder into the birding tower to enjoy the view of the fall colors. We listened to the going-to-roost sounds of the white-throated sparrows in our orchard. We saw a red bat fly past on the north side of the tower. We enjoyed a pretty darned nice sunset.
We re-elected our officers to their same old posts in the WBC. Pictured above is the entire membership and board of The Whipple Bird Club. From left to right, we are: Steve McCarthy (Royal meteorologist), Bill Thompson, III (King, Founder, and Keeper of Many Chins), Shila Wilson (Royal Soothsayer and Club Polarity Therapist), and Julie Zickefoose (Queen). I took this shot with the BT3 MonkeyCam.
The next meeting of The Whipple Bird Club will coincide with the Ohio Ornithological Society's Raptor Symposium on December 3, 2005 in Zanesville, OH. Following the symposium we will adjourn to The Wilds for some raptor watching. Short-eared owls and rough-legged hawks will be there!
