When in Frankfurt...

On my long journey back from South Africa, I had a long layover (from 5 am to 11 am local time) in the Frankfurt, Germany airport. This airport is HUGE and designed with a very Schprockets-like German sensibility.

So what does one DO when in Frankfurt? Well, you MUST have ein bier bitte. And you MUST have, yes, frankfurters.
Yum! Ein gut frankfurter, ja! And yes, I was birding, too.

well beggars cannot be choosers in the morning in an airport. i had to plead and beg to get a beer at 10:30 am. And I thought that beer for breakfast was part of the German culture...

Next time, pomme frits, for sure...
Danke!

I'm with Ric...love that blue tunnel. It makes my architect husband crazy every time we fly through DTW.

That airport is a black hole of layovers. I had a 7 hour layover there on a Sunday in 2003. You know what's open in Frankfurt on a Sunday? McDonald's... that's it.

Long stay at an airport makes passengers and travellers quite restless. They get bored waiting at the airport.
