Hmmm...
That "week behind schedule" doesn't bode well for the upcoming World Series of Birding next month...
On the contrary, the delay could mean that the WSB participants have an easier time with the early migrants, as they still may be around. Of course that assumes that things improve by then.
In any case trying to predict anything three weeks out it meaningless.
I love this post -- I think that, in truth, you don't care how "behind schedule" you are at Indigo Hill. However long it takes, I think you'd be happy to wait for that sparrow.
Ahhh, a Vesper Sparrow. One of my Top 10 most wanted birds. Could you please Fed-Ex it to me?
~Kathi, who thinks migration is right about on time in SW Ohio
KatDoc:
Go outside TODAY. I think the vespers are slipping thru OH right now--have heard numerous reports.
Bill, I've noticed the delay here as well (southwestern Ontario).
You can almost set your watch to the chipping sparrows' spring return, but this year they're about a week late.
I live in South West lower Michigan. Has anyone from us northern dwellers seen any hummingbirds yet? I haven't.
Anonymous,go to http://www.hummingbirds.net/map.html for reliable range maps.
Birdie90,
Thanks for the info. I will check that out.
How amazing to see this little bird after a decade! Is there any hope it will stay?
