Giving Up Birding

Dear All:

After 37 years of near obsession, slack-jawed wonder, and thorough enjoyment of birds, I have decided to hang up the binoculars.

I just don't feel like being a birder anymore.

My new hobby (and I am really jazzed about it!) is collecting paper clips: all colors, shapes, designs and countries of origin. If you know of any cool paper-clip collecting festivals please let me know.

I'm even thinking about writing a book to encourage young people to come inside (it's dangerous outdoors!) and get into the really awesome fun of paper clip collecting!

Well, it's been fun! Gotta dash, my new job at Staples starts tonight at midnight.

  1. Hey, you and Bert on Sesame Street are kindred souls, he is the only other paperclip collector I know! He'll be thrilled, maybe the two of you can start a club.

  2. Bill, you didn't have me for a second! LOL! I don't think someone can turn off birds like turning off water in the shower!

  5. I hear that there will be a great gathering of paper clip collectors, or as they prefer to be called membranajunctiologists, in Fargo, ND this coming December.
