Can I just say that we miss you Boys of Summer? It's just not the same around here without you, as the days get shorter and the air gets cooler.
Have a nice winter, but don't forget to come back home, OK?

Yes, I miss these little gems, too. Your photo showing that red gorget is awesome!
Great picture! Have you seen this picture? http://www.flickr.com/photos/mjbinaz/5036332322/in/set-72157624937180991/lightbox/ from Charles Melton?
I adore hummingbirds!
We changed our feeder nectar for the last time this year. Around here in Ohio where we live the hummers leave the first week of October and they are already gone.
Your photograph of this one is excellent.
It is cold, with a hard driving rain out of the east today. The wind hits our living room window after having a free run for 150 miles over Lake Erie on its way from Buffalo NY to the backside of nowhere.
The grasses are turning brown and only the most stubborn plants, like the New England asters, have blooms and in the midst of all this two hummingbirds are having an aerial duel, dancing on the wind, claiming the nectar feeder as their own as it swings in the storm.
Silly, as there are three more feeders on the lea side of the cottage where the livin' is easy.
Beautiful picture. I also miss them.
I live in southwest lower Michigan. The hummingbirds left early last week. I miss them all ready. Love the photo.
Lynda in Michigan.
I just love these little guys, my feeder is still out for any passers-by but haven't seen any for a couple weeks. Great picture.
