Briefly, because I know we all have better things to be doing, I wanted to share a couple of images with you showing why I come to the New River Birding & Nature Festival every single year.
Two words having to do with warblers: Cerulean and Swainson's.
Both of these birds were digiscoped today on my trip down Sugar Creek Road to the Gauley River. And I only took the images AFTER we'd shown every participant views of these species through my Leica spotting scope.

A bird to match the sky! Thanks for showing me my first, Bill. I'll be back, too. It's such a fun, friendly festival.
You's the lucky boy!
That would be two lifers for me and the Doodles!
Nice captures. I like smaller birds a lot. May be because we don't have many here, so I appreciate them a lot more. Thanks for sharing, Anna :)
Ahhh - drink in the cerulean blue! I gotta see one again this spring.
Even though the Swainson's doesn't equal the Cerulean for "eye candy," still a beautiful photo of an elusive bird.
Good to say "Hi!" no matter how briefly. I'll be "Birdin' with Bill" in North Dakota this June.

sooooo jealous! Sorry I missed you all this year. Hope you had a blast and see you in 2011.

It was a real treat to bird with you Bill! Next year can't get here quick enough.
What a kick! Who new a birding festival would be so much fun?! Bill, thanks for so many lifers! (am I allowed to call them that-it being my first real birding adventure?) Admit it, my raised hand and lifer dance got a little obnoxious, didn't it!
That would be Who "knew"...really meant new, as in newbie...not buyin' it, I know.
Thanks for the comments, all. It was a great year at The New. Though I understand that next year they won't be allowing any Alabama birders to come. Something about them being too rowdy.
Just kidding Angela. You gals made the fest even more fun. Ain't birding ossum?
Vireo ossum!
