For those among you who have some available eartime this afternoon, I'll be appearing on the Martha Stewart Living Today radio show at 1 pm EST. The show is broadcast on Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 112.
Host Mario Bosquez is a bird enthusiast and he's always ready with a series of seasonally appropriate questions for me. We always take listener calls, usually with bird questions (866-675-6675). Today's topic will be "the birds of summer." I am relatively certain the topic of bald cardinals will come up during the interview.
If you want to listen, you can use Sirius' FREE 3-day subscription at http://www.sirius.com/freetrial/register
I've been on Mario's show a half-dozen times or so over the past few years, and have even done two of the interviews in the actual Sirius/MSL studio, which was very cool.
Drop me a note here if you hear the show today. I'd like to know if there's "anybody out there."

Heard you today Bill! Great job! Too bad you didn't get to meet Martha.

Mario Bosquez used to be an anchor in one of the NYC local news broadcasts. I was really sorry to see him go but I'm glad he's got his own radio show. I didn't know he was a bird watcher - definitely another point in his favor!
I signed up for the free trial and *then* realized that this isn't like a podcast on demand. Duh. I can't get the channel to play anyway though I tried hard to jump through the hoops.
I have a bald cardinal in my yard and I think I have had one for the previous 2 summers also - I just didn't get binos on him to see that he had no feathers, not black feathers. This year I actually got a picture.
Do write about them please.
Thanks for great blogging!
Yes, please write about the bald cardinals. These birds are year-round residents in SWGA, and frequent visitors to my backyard. It would be good to know if I could offer a specific food or a food supplement that could help them. I can't see how being bald could be good for them. Certainly not for their egos!
