Recalling the Green-headed Tanager

What a week this has been! Between the deadlines, headlines, equipment malfunctions, wardrobe malfunctions, poisonous snakes, stepped-on rakes, event planning, e-mail spamming, deal making, wind breaking, close calls with spotty fawns, hissing of summer lawns, I am wondering where the past five days went?
That's a question with no answer. Like this one: Where does your lap go when you stand up?
To Lappland? Methinks it is so.
So I find myself taking solace in memories. Like this green-headed tanager from Brazil which I photographed last summer near Ubatuba. He's a handsome devil. And if I close my eyes, I can almost smell the woodsmoke and hear the soft sounds of the bossa nova drifting through the trees.
Bring on the weekend and let it linger long.

As a former SE Ohio herper who enjoys nature blogs... what is the story with the venomous snake?
I also spent time in Brazil last spring and often catch myself daydreaming of the sounds of the river and the smell of the manioc...
Gorgeous photo! You must have some amazing photos in the archives that we haven't seen yet. I hope your wonderful memories keep showing up here. Hint hint.

Jason:
My daughter Phoebe found a copperhead near our garage. It was in a chipmunk hole with just its head sticking out. We waited a few hours then caught it when it came out with a snake-grabbing device. Then Julie transported it (inside a lidded garbage can) down the road a few miles and let it go.
Nice photographs.

A nice find. You guys have an awesome chunk of property. I wish I even had a yard to compile a "yard list".
Thanks for sharing,
Jason
