I photographed this bird at Florida's Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge in February a few years ago. Can you tell me what it is?

Aw, man, someone already beat me to it. I also think it is a Yellow-crowned Night Heron.
I also thought it might be a McDonald's Fry Guy, but it wouldn't be the right habitat. They usually are in flocks and associate with mayor McCheese and Grimace.

Y'all are too smart! It IS a yellow-crowned night-heron.
It was holding its head down, staring intently at some small fish in the pool below its perch. If you look closely I think you can see the ends of the crown plumes sticking up above the shoulders.
Gotta give rmharvey extra credit. Science Chimp didn't know there was a hyphen.
I'm arriving a little late to the show, but just wanted to tell you how much I love this striking image!
Yellow-crowned Night-Herons are really sort of goofy looking overall, but this picture really captures the loveliest aspects of the bird's plumage. I'm sure the Goofy Looking Bird agents will be after you to photograph all their clients once this impressive shot makes its way around! : )
