BOTB reader Terence Busic took this image of a male brown-headed cowbird at his backyard feeder in Wayne County, Ohio, earlier in December. He wrote that the male cowbird seemed healthy and was able to grab and eat seeds by turning his head to the side. He affectionately named the bird "Gonzo."
Cyrano or Pinocchio or GĂ©rard Depardieu might've been alternative names.
Thanks Terence!

Wow, naming it Cyrano would be pretty meta, what with that "You give the birds a place to perch!" line. :-D
Wow, this one is really bad! I think it would have been neat to see a video of it trying to eat! Thanks to your Bird Watchers Digest member who sent it in!
I suppose if a bird has to be afflicted, a brood parasite being stricken has some poetic justice. (As if there were a plan). Poor thing. Makes me want to set a trap and take a nail clippers to it.
